Christmas Countdown #6
“Do They Know It’s Christmas” by BAND-AID
“Do They Know It’s Christmas” is a song that was written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, and was first recorded by the supergroup, Band Aid (in 1984). The purpose of the song was to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia.
This unique Christmas tune features vocals from a variety of popular artists, including Boy George, Bono, Sting, Phil Collins, Simon LeBon, George Michael, and many others. The lyrics within address the plight of those suffering from famine, and encourage people to contribute to the cause.
